Steering Set Up For 40/80 Builds.

This is a full guide on how to do your steering conversion please contact your engineer of choice to be able to use this set up in your country or state.

We have set up a service where you post your  stripped down 40 series inner  column we machine a new spline for your application. We also supply a lower bearing for the conversion for $350 AUD  That includes  post to your house easy as that. please go to shop for purchase info

Part numbers you need to put in email for resp-lined column that suit Refab Engineering Body mounts. 

Here is 3 options please read carefully.

  • Standard 40 series column length : AF1801
  • 40 series modified length minus 50 mm : AF1802 (  steering wheel closer to dash)
  • 40 series column custom length : AF1803  ( Mark with a paint pen where you want the column to end. The spline is 30mm from this point towards the steering wheel. When marking your own custom length make a clear drawing in the email .you will be liable if this is wrong! )

Stripping Down The Steering Column . If you chose the AF1802 option you need to remove 50mm from outer steering column to bring steering wheel closer to dash.

Re weld

After outer column  is shortened you can paint ready for re assemble.

Lower Side

Press lower bearing into bottom of outer column this doesn’t need grease its a sealed bearing.
